This spring, Attleboro will no longer be hosting the spring Hockomock “SHAGS” season. We want to keep our teams active and competitive during the spring and investigated many options for our teams. As a board, we met with representatives from many area groups to determine what was the best option for a spring season and we voted our North Redhawks Fastpitch teams were best suited to play within the North Attleboro system that recently merged into Plainville’s spring softball league. This gives all our players a full spring season against other towns and will allow them to play locally against decent competition. Most of the area towns have their Hockomock summer players participating in their town programs in this league.
North Attleboro Park and Recreation department will handle all payments, uniforms and registration for the spring season and we will have a link on our website to their site as soon as its available. All our Redhawks coaches will be involved in managing North’s program, we will be coaching, on the fields, managing practices and helping to train players. We are very excited about this as it will help grow our program and allow for us to have a full spring season.
Our Summer program will remain the same as year’s past with a tryout for our 10u, 12u, 14u and older aged teams towards the end of spring season (TBD). These teams will compete within the Hockomock Summer league that we have competed in for several years. Our summer and Fall programs will remain unchanged.
We encourage all our players to participate in a spring season to get ready for summer tryouts and our summer season. With the Hockomock league not having a designated spring season schedule anymore, we truly feel that the participating with Plainville will offer the best workout schedule to prepare for the upcoming season.
